WELCOME!

Belgian Shepherds Du FeuBleu is a small family kennel, home to working Belgian Malinois and Belgian Tervuren. Our goal is to produce dogs with outstanding health, well balanced drive, extraordinary structure and temperament – serious athletic Belgians who can do it all.

Our dogs come from working bloodlines of European decent and are not just show dogs. We strive to maintain the working roots of the breed as well as to meet and exceed the written breed standard for conformation based on physical and emotional characteristics. We do not breed just because bitch and/or stud have CH by their name.

We take pride selecting our stock based on outstanding health data dating as long as 10 generations back, temperament, and working ethics/ability. All of our dogs (including non-breeding stock) are screened for genetic disorders, and are active in numerous avenues such as Herding, Obedience, Agility, Tracking, Conformation, Schutzhund, Service etc. Our dogs are raised in the house as our companions and VIP family members. We do not have outside-kennel dogs, nor will we place our dogs into kennel living arrangement. At this time we will not ship our dogs by air and require in person interview for prospective puppy owners.

We strongly believe that successful relationship with your puppy begins with your breeder. The health of your puppy will depend largely on his/her genetic make-up, however the physical and emotional condition of his/her parents prior to/during pregnancy and post delivery will make a huge difference in puppy's development.

We start with careful selection of our breeding stock on the genetic level; continue with carefully balanced nutrition and exercise program crafted by a team of carefully selected veterinary specialists, trainers, mentors and friends who help us at every stage of the puppy's development. And finally, we believe in very careful match-making between the right owner and the right puppy. We strive to follow the puppy throughout his/her life. We require new parents to follow through with health clearances regardless of whether the puppy will be contributing to the breed development, or spayed/neutered.

"Pedigree indicates what the animal should be.
Conformation indicates what the animal appears to be.
But performance indicates what the animal actually is."

In search for our puppy to be the foundation stock for Du FeuBleu, I wanted a working dog in the first place, yet one who will meet and exceed the written breed standard. I am a strong believer in starting from excellent stock and improving on excellence. Do you always get a puppy who will grow up to be an excellent representation of written breed standard and be "it all" in the working world? Absolutely not. Time will tell if we do have beautiful working girls or just awesome working dogs whose genetic make up we will choose not to pass on. It is an extremely difficult decision a breeder makes when trying to decide whether or not to breed a bitch and which stud to breed her to. Early on, I had vowed to myself that I will not contribute to the trend of breeding poor representatives of this gorgeous breed, simply on the basis of being able to finish AKC championship on her/him. I have vowed to myself, my mentors, and my family that I will do my best to produce a very small amount of dogs but of extreme quality in both show and working world.

Please, wish us patience and dedication in our training for Schutzhund, Obedience, Herding, Agility and Service. Wish us conformation judges who are truly breed fanciers to help guide us through the uneven side of showing dogs in conformation!
